Advice on Running an Event

Generate an idea
Decide what kind of event you want to offer. It could be a Family Fun Day or an hour of activities using some of the resources linked above. It could be something completely different. The possibilities are endless!

Work together
Work with other members of staff in your school or setting. If you’re interested in putting on a larger event, reach out to other schools or settings that might combine efforts with you.

Give out prizes
Giving out small prizes or reward for participants who complete challenges and activities is a good way to generate excitement.

Keep it small if you want to
If you want to run a large event that’s fantastic. But don’t be afraid to start small and build-up in future years.

Record your event
Record your event in photos or video so that highlights can be shared.

If you use twitter, then be sure to share updates, pictures and quotes for your events with #MathsMonth

Register your event
Register your event with the North Yorkshire Coast Opportunity Area. This means we can promote the great work you’re doing and share learning with other schools and settings.
